Šatūnas, the renowned modern Lithuanian glass artist, is known for his use of 3-dimensional elements in his artwork. He fused many layers of glass and exposed the edge of the fused glass piece (as opposed to the face).
He began his art career when Lithuania was under Soviet occupation and he wasn’t influenced by any artist or movement from the Western world at that time. Later, around the 1980’s, he visited some countries outside of the USSR. Yet the majority of his innovations he did before that.
