Normal firing is from 540-600°C (1004-1112°F) in a cycle of 60-150 minutes, cold-to-cold, with 10 minutes for soaking. The object must be fired at a slowly increasing temperature particularly in the initial firing phase up to approximately 400°C (752°F). During the initial firing phase maintain good ventilation (thus peepholes open, and then closed after the initial phase) otherwise the carbon ash will remain on the colors.
