Description
The D175 is a pine oil based medium that can be used for hand painting and direct screen printing. Drying time is quite dependent on the conditions, usually dries in a few hours. You can speed up the drying time by pre-heating before firing. As for viscosity, that would depend on the mixing ratio with the color. Average viscosity of the medium mixed with color at the 80/20 recommended mixing ratio would be about 20,000 cps.
Firing paints mixed with oils / mediums
When firing paints with significant amounts of medium, this must be burned off for good results. With peephole(s) open, increase kiln temperature slowly to 450°C (840°F), hold at this temperature for 20-40 min, then close peephole(s) and fire normally.
